Totana is an hour's drive from Alicante airport and 30 minutes from Murcia. On the edge of the beautiful Sierra Espuña nature reserve. We have especially chosen the interior of southern Spain because we enjoy the peace and the beautiful nature around us here every day. And when we feel like a little more hustle and bustle, that's within reach!

The beautiful areas with untouched nature are only just emerging from a touristic point of view. We have listed some beautiful, special places and nature reserves in the area, but these are just a few of the many possibilities.

´Discover the real Spain!´

Sierra  Espuna

The beautiful Sierra Espuña Natural Park is the oldest and most characteristic part of the Murcia region. In addition to its very important function in the fight against erosion and desertification, it is also a protected natural park due to its beauty.

The Sierra Espuña has many protected plant and animal species. They live in ramblas, ravines, cliffs, mountain lakes and the vast forests. As a remnant of the past, discover the almost magical pits of snow that have remained intact and used to supply the forests with ice water.

The Sierra Espuña is a dominant mountain range with hidden canyons and borders Totana, among others. With altitudes between 200 and 1,600 meters ('Morrón de Espuña'), this wooded mountain range offers endless possibilities for active outdoor living. Walking, running, hiking, mountain biking, gravel biking, cycling, there are plenty of options for every active person and at every level.

Barrancos de Gebas

Barrancos de Gebas is an impressive (lunar) landscape on the edge of the Sierra Espuña Natural Park. Soft rocks and clay-rich soils have been extensively eroded by the elements over a long period of time. 'Barranco' means gully or ravine. Hundreds of lime-white canyons and beautiful azure lakes have been created here over the years.

Barrancos de Gebas is one of the eight protected landscapes in the region of Murcia, which characterizes the beauty and uniqueness of the place.

A visit to Barrancos de Gebas is the perfect activity for a different day out. The area can be reached by bike or on foot and takes you through a beautiful landscape to this wonderfully impressive place!

Gulch of Aledo

A beautiful place is Estrecho de la Arboleja in Aledo. Nine million years ago, the Rambla de Lebor was located here. The water of this rambla has pierced the rocks and a deep and narrow gulch has formed in the sandstone floor.

It is nice and cool in the gulch, which can be a rewarding distraction in the summer. Thanks to the incidence of light, the rocks take on different colors and stalactites, moss and plants become visible. The surrounding nature is wonderful. The striking erosion processes are very visible and the fossilized coral reefs on the rocks.

A visit and walk through the Gulch of Aledo is great for the whole family. A combination with a visit to the town of Aledo is also worthwhile.

Bolnuevo

On a beautiful sunny beach day, visit Las Gredas de Bolnuevo, also known as 'Enchanted City', with its heavily eroded sandstone formations just across from Playa Bolnuevo.

The soft sandstone has been shaped into mushroom-like images by water and wind over thousands of years. While these impressive formations enjoy legal protection, they can be viewed up close.

Bolnuevo Beach is an impressive golden stretch of sandy beach by the sea. On the west side of Bolnuevo, the cliff is covered with pastel-colored houses, palm trees and with numerous colorful flowers.

For anyone looking for a perfect combination of sun, sea and natural beauties, a visit to Bolnuevo should not be missed.

 La Santa

The pilgrimage site De Santa Eulalia de Merida ('La Santa') consists of a monastery and a beautiful church, built in Mudejar style. From the fourteenth century there are references to the existence of this small sanctuary, built by the Knights of the Order of Santiago .

In La Santa, the statue of Santa Eulalia de Merida, the patron saint of Totana since 1644, is venerated. Inside, the church is decorated with paintings dating back to 1624, which tell the story of La Santa, Jesus Christ and the Franciscans. The altar, containing the image of Saint Santa Eulalia de Merida, was built in the 18th century.

La Santa is located at 600 meters altitude, in a beautiful spot at the foot of the Sierra Espuña. From Forza Totana there is a beautiful nature walk to La Santa. Once you have arrived, in addition to visiting the church and the monastery, you can also enjoy a lovely walk in the garden of La Santa, from where you have a view of the mountains of the Sierra Espuña. There is also a lovely terrace where you can have a drink or enjoy a Spanish tapas.
